Current leadership

Michael Gottlieb, MD
SCUF Treasurer
Finance Committee Chair
Michael Gottlieb is the Vice Chair of Research and Director of the Emergency Ultrasound Division at Rush University Medical Center. He has served as the founding Program Director for the Rush Clinical Ultrasound Fellowship, as well as Past-Chair of the ACEP Ultrasound Section, AAEM Ultrasound Section, CORD Academy for Scholarship, SAEM Education Summit, CORD Education Committee, and CORD Best Practices Subcommittee. He is a nationally-recognized speaker, educator, and researcher. His academic interests include medical education, ultrasound, infectious diseases, heart failure, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Will Kropf, MD, MHPE
Immediate Past SCUF Treasurer
Finance Committee Chair
Will is an ultrasound faculty member at the University of Michigan, where he is Director for Student Ultrasound Education, APD for the residency program, and Co-Director for the Diagnostics and Therapeutics Branch of the University of Michigan Medical School. He completed a combined fellowship in Clinical Ultrasound and Medical Education at the University of Michigan. His scholarly interests include assessment of learners and POCUS education.

Benchmark Survey Subcommittee

William Schaeffer, MD
Subcommittee Leader
Dr. Schaeffer is an assistant professor of Emergency Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI. He currently serves as the residency ultrasound education director and is an assistant program director for the Emergency Medicine Residency. He graduated from Midwestern University in Chicago and completed residency at the University of Michigan where he also completed an ultrasound fellowship.

Maya Lin, MD
Dr. Lin completed her fellowship in emergency ultrasound at North Shore University Hospital. She currently serves as both the Division Director of Emergency Medicine Ultrasound and Director of the Emergency Medicine Ultrasound Fellowship at NYU Langone Health
Research Subcommittee

Joseph R. Pare, MD, MHS, RDMS
Dr. Joseph R. Pare, MD, MHS, RDMS completed residency at Boston University Medical Center and completed his ultrasound fellowship and MHS degree at Yale University. He is currently an associate professor and the Director of Ultrasound Research at Brown Emergency Medicine.
